Splurge a little (or a lot)...

This month we recommend 2 "Funky Blends" - great wines made from several different grape varieties

  1. Caymus Conundrum, 2001, Rutherford, California, $20 – A great gemisch of grapes combine to make this unique, tasty white wine. Scents of melon and tropical fruit with floral accents. Full body and crisp with rich texture. A dry wine that teases you into thinking it might have some sweetness. Liquid luxury for only $20. Consider the Conundrum here.

  2. E. Guigal Chateauneuf du Pape, 2000/01, Rhone Valley, France, $45-$50 – The Beastie Boys were actually able to build a rhyme with the words: “Chateauneuf du Pape!” Fun to pronounce. Fun to drink. This subtle, yet tasty red is a blend of 10 to 12 grape varieties. You can find scents and flavors of red berries, black pepper, cedar, anise and ‘earthiness’ swimming in this wine. A great wine to sniff and sip for hours. Learn more about the 'du Pape here.
