Basic Juice Review

Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler, QBA Riesling, 2001

*** (3-Stars)

Price: $10

Producer: Dr. Pauly Bergweiler

Origin: Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

Type of wine: Dry white wine made from Riesling grapes

Try it with: A fine aperitif wine, grilled chicken, sweet & sour pork

Date Reviewed: Jan. 2004

It’s been difficult not to like many German Rieslings from the 2000 and 2001 vintages. Dr. Pauly is no exception. This Riesling is a value-priced, easy drinking Riesling. The pale colored wine offers up honey, peach and pear scents. Dr. Pauly’s Riesling does have a very slight sweetness in the mouth. The hint of sugar is balanced by moderate crispness. This wine has intriguing flavors of fresh peach, pineapple along with subtle mineral notes. If you’re new to Riesling, Dr. Pauly is a good first timer’s Riesling.
