Basic Juice Review

Höpler Grüner Veltliner, 2002

*** (3-Stars)

Price: $9

Producer: Höpler

Origin: Burgenland (Eastern), Austria

Type of wine: Dry white wine made from the Grüner Veltliner grape

Try it with: A nice aperitif wine; Mediterranean style chicken, Greek salad

Date Reviewed: April 2004

"Gru-Vee” (Grüner Veltliner) is Austria’s very own white wine grape. Gru-Vee’s are normally a little pricier, so it was a treat to find this wine. It’s pale yellow with near-green undertones. This is a simple, straightforward wine: scents of lemon zest, alfalfa & minerals. In the mouth, the Höpler, is crisp and refreshing with citrus-like flavors & a hint of sweetness. A great value wine for the picnic basket.
