Basic Juice Review

Fairview, Goats do Roam White, 2002

*** (3-Stars)

Price: $9

Producer: Fairview - Charles Back

Origin: South Africa

Type of wine: Dry white wine made from a blend of grapes

Try it with: Very aromatic, yet simple-to-drink. Grilled tuna, Cobb salad, pasta salad

Date Reviewed: Feb. 2004

A simple, yet unique value-priced wine. Nothing like a white Côtes du Rhone wine (from France) as the name might imply. However the white ‘Goats is an inexpensive change of pace from many under-10 dollar wines. The light straw color masks a ‘Bang!’ of peach and apricot scents in the glass. Considering its high alcohol content (13.5%), it seems only medium-bodied. Peach and grape (yes grape) flavors dominate followed by a smooth, yet brief finish.
