Basic Juice Review

Domaine Pichot ‘Domaine le Pea de la Moriette’
Vouvray, 2002

***1/2 (3.5-Stars)

Price: $10

Producer: Domaine Pichot

Origin: Loire Valley, France

Type of wine: Slightly off-dry white wine made with the Chenin Blanc grape

Try it with: Very good aperitif wine; Alfredo sauce pastas, soft cheeses

Date Reviewed: March 2004

Almost everything about this wine makes me think of spring – fresh fruit, flowers, and damp earth. Vouvray wines can range from dry to sweet and everywhere in between. The light gold Domaine Pichot reveals a hint of honey aroma along with apricot, fresh flower and ‘earthiness.’ This Vouvray begins with very subtle sweetness followed with tangy flavors of lemon and orange. It finishes with an intriguing chalky/earthy note. This is a unique wine at a very good price. It’s good enough and interesting enough to drink all by itself. Give it a try.
