Basic Juice Review

Chateau d’Orschwihr Gewurztraminer, 2000

** (2-Stars)

Price: $20

Producer: Chateau d'Orschwihr

Origin: Alsace, France

Type of wine: Dry white wine made from Gewurztraminer grapes

Try it with: Gewurztraminer can work with Indian and Asian food

Date Reviewed: Feb. 2004

Aside from a missing umlaut (ü), Gewurztraminer from Alsace is normally quite memorable. This Gewurz is gold, almost amber in color. It has big, big scents of lychee, apricot and honey. In the glass it is quite viscous (sticky) - almost syrupy. Unfortunately this wine tasted flabby – some sweetness, a lot of alcohol and little crispness.
