Basic Juice Review

Fairview Goat Roti, 2002

** (2-Stars)

Price: $16

Producer: Fairview - Charles Back

Origin: South Africa

Type of wine: Dry red wine made from a blend of grapes – including Syrah and Mouvérde

Try it with: A spicy/fruity red. Pizza, pasta

Date Reviewed: Feb. 2004

This wine is similar in style to an Australian Shiraz. A very inky, purple wine that is loaded with spicy and fruity scents. It does have some ‘meaty’ scents as well – probably due to the Mouvérde grape. Goat Roti is full-bodied with noticeable tannins and simple, fruity flavors. A little sharp initially, but softened with time in the glass. The flavors are mostly baked red berries. Unfortunately, the $16 price tag is a little steep for this wine. Similarly styled wines of comparable quality can be had for $12 or less.
