Basic Juice Review

Boutari Nemea, 2000

** (2-Stars)

Price: $10

Producer: Boutari

Origin: Peloponnese, Greece

Type of wine: Dry red wine made from the Agiorgitiko grape

Try it with: Spinach and feta salad; olive tapenade

Date Reviewed: April 2004

This wine is quite different in color. It is deep ruby red, with tones of root beer-brown. Boutari Nemea has ripe black cherry scents, along with clove and heavily toasted oak. The wine is quite light bodied in the mouth with tart flavors and sharp tannins. The tannins soften after the wine has had a chance to breath. The resulting flavors are of cherry and raspberry. It has a short finish and, unfortunately, is somewhat blasé.
