Basic Juice Review

A-Mano Primitivo, 2001

**** (4-Stars)

Price: $11

Producer: A-Mano

Origin: Puglia, Italy (on the heel, to be exact)

Type of wine: Dry red wine from the Primitivo grape – the genetic grandma to California’s Zinfandel grape

Try it with: Pizza, mama’s spaghetti, panini sandwiches, fried calamari

Date Reviewed: Aug. 2003

This deep, inky plum colored wine is a slightly softer version of a big red Zinfandel. The A-Mano has intense cherry scents with subtle woody and pepper aromas. Its flavor is bright red berries up front followed by a peppery, lightly tannic finish. This wine is bold and simple, which makes it easy to drink without much contemplation. Try it with pizza or spaghetti and meatballs.
