Reviews: Quick Takes

July-Aug/04

  1. Affentaler, Spätburgunder, Austria,2003, $12, .5*
(0.5 Stars) – Cool bottle. Bright pink wine that looks and tastes just like something that comes in a box with a straw. Umm, no thanks

  2. Les Deux Rives, Corbiers AOC, France, 2001, $7, .5*
(0.5 Stars) – Cheap? Yes. Good? No. Overdone oak coupled with unripened cherry flavors. Pass on this one.

  3. Ajello, 'Furat,' Sicily, Italy, 2000, $15, **.5
(2.5 Stars) – An interesting red wine with a little ‘aged’ character. It offers scents of berry compote, pepper and figs. In the mouth it’s medium-bodied with a brief hit of tannins and crispness
