Basic Juice Review

Bouvet-Ladubay Rosé Excellence NV ($14)

***1/2 (3.5-Stars)

  • From Saumur, Anjou-Saumur in the Loire Valley of France

  • Pink-copper color with steady, medium-sized bubbles

  • Scents of red raspberry, pear cider, and rose hips

  • Full-bodied in the mouth. Fairly well-balanced, but noticeable alcohol content. Flavors of red, tangy fruits - cranberry, red plums

Overall a fine, pink bubbly. A fine aperitif. Also great with gravalox, smoked chicken salad, or grilled brats (really).

Saumur is in the central Loire Valley - more specifically, it's part of a region called Anjou-Saumur. FYI, nearly all red/rosé wines from Anjou-Saumur are made from Cabernet Franc (some are blended with a white grape called Groslot).

Bouvet-Ladubay Rosé Excellence is a Vin Mousseaux. This term is assigned to sparkling wines made outside of Champagne in the traditional method (methode traditionelle).
